Oct 2019: Only writing a one star review because I couldn’t put 0 stars, this apartment complex is terrible don’t give them your money. When I moved in the apartment was a complete mess and absolutely gross it didn’t look like it had ever been cleaned and they claimed they had put new flooring and carpet in which is not true. While living there I had to put multiple work orders to fix a thermostat in the middle of summer, they left my unit with out AC for 3 weeks in August. I also had to put multiple work orders in to get my dryer fixed and was without a dryer for a month. Then upon move out they charged me $500 for repairs even though the apartment was in bad shape when I moved in and noted it on my unit condition move in form. Management is terrible and no one that works here cares about the residents. DO NOT MOVE TO THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX. Review from Google
Sep 2019: Just wanted to share what we just experience at Bishops Square.
What started out as very exciting day for 3 girls, first ever apartment, quickly turned to dismay. They pickup their keys and we rushed over to start the move in process. The girls ran to open the door only to be met with the nasty mess and smells. The apartment was filthy and the excitement on out girls faces quickly disappeared. Thanks Bishops Square!!!! So we spent the next 4 hours scrubbing the apartment down - upstairs and down. 10 people for 4 hours....WOW....then we felt good enough to set up the girls stuff. I just don't understand why in the heck the management of these apartment don't mind doing this....I know that it just students, but goodness they must have some sort of brains. The management response was that they had cleaning crews available during the move in to help. THANKS
Sep 2019: this place sucks. i’ve called every day for maintenance for the last two to fix my plumbing issues and they didn’t. they don’t clean the apartments before you move in. we didn’t have hot water for over a week. not worth the price you’re not paying at all
Aug 2019: We are pleased with Bishop so far, they were able to accommodate us when another apartment complex we chose over booked and gave our room to someone else. They made it possible for us to move in sooner than the move in date which we really appreciated. Review from GoogleAug 2019: Paid $629 of rent for the month of August(not moving in until last week of August) only to find out they have not touched the house since the last residents. No lights, dryer is broke, AC is dripping, bathtubs so dirty you cant even use them. Floors, tables, and counters had to be cleaned because they were covered in dirt. Jul 2019: Not sure why all the negative reviews - other than it is student housing and, therefore, some units have been taken care of better than others. Kenton, the manager, is awesome and very helpful and accommodating. Shannon is helpful too. The maintenance guys are THE BEST! Logan, Manny and Augustine were spectacular! Really, really helpful and went above and beyond to help us with a quick move and getting the place ready. We were unlucky in that we were subleasing for a month before taking over the lease and the apartment was not left in good shape at all. They did everything they could, and then some, to help us get it in order. The tub was even completely resurfaced within a few days! Location and amenities are fantastic. I would definitely recommend to any students looking for safe, convenient housing with great amenities and exceptional management and maintenance staff who really seem to care. Thank you! Jul 2019: I’ve been living here for two years now and I only stayed an extra year to remove the Hassle of moving up but after this year I’m through. The internet has been going in and out for hours at a time, the apartment complex has fleas everywhere and when we called they said that they won’t pay for the extermination of fleas. Our couch was cheap and my friend literally sat on it and it busted (still haven’t been replaced) my first year our carpet was horrible with so many stains, this year they replaced the carpet everywhere except my room since I already had been living here, the bathrooms have paint everywhere, my bathtub and toilet are both stained, they didnt have a gate code or anything for about a year so anytime you wanted to let someone in you would have to drive up to the front with your gate clicker which was such an inconvenience ....I wouldn’t recommend living here to anyone Review from Google

They changed internet providers to some cheap one and the internet has outages EVERY day for like 1 hr to sometimes 5. Inconvenience when you’re trying to do homework!! TV quality isn’t the greatest, appliances don’t work properly. Visitor parking is such an inconvenience when family comes visit. I could go on and on, but I probably won’t ever finish. Mar 2019: I definitely recommend living here! I transferred to Texas State last year and I have been living here since my transfer. The staff, amenities, and location are great! The staff is very caring and helpful with residents. The amenities are my favourite feature! I have always been able to ask them any questions or talk about any concerns and they have always been knowledgeable and kind, especially Katelyn and Mary! The complex is pet friendly and provides poop bags for your dogs so that you can keep the community clean. Unfortunately people do not utilize the poop bags and there is dog poop on the ground, so careful where you step! The Area Managers do not communicate with each other and are not very professional. Jan 2019: Do not move to this apartment complex! I can't wait for the day my lease is finally up with this disaster of an apartment complex. The unit you are shown when touring is nothing like what you actually get. The actual unit you get has floors that have paint all over them, gaps in the wood, and no matter how much you clean it, it never actually gets clean. The carpet is torn up with stains all over it. For the amount of money you pay each month you get the worst appliances that never work properly. I have put in numerous work orders to have appliances fixed and even though the maintenance staff is fairly quick to come "fix" the issue, its only a temporary fix and the staff in the front office doesn't seem to care that I put in so many work orders for the exact same issue. I am going to give a complete honest review about this apartment complex. I toured a model unit of the apartment which looked perfect but when I moved in, the apartment was not cleaned other than the carpet, had filthy filters, the windows and the ceiling had spider webs, it smelled like mold, had a broken dishwasher and garbage disposer, and 2 leakages, one in my bathroom and one underneath the sink. They made me pay rent on the first of August but was not able to move in until the 22nd , they had 22 days to check the apartment, which they clearly did not do. The apartment unit that I am in comes with a garage that its completely useless since is located downhill; it scratches the bottom of the car coming in and out of the garage. So I talked to these people on the phone and was told I wouldn't need a guarantor. I'm a veteran and my parents weren't interested in slapping their names on paperwork for their grown man of a son. I drive eight hours to get there on move in day and arrive only to be told that they lied and will only allow me to move in if I get my dad to fax them a signature. So my options are to find a new place in the two days before classes start, go back home, or convince my dad. My dad agreed and signed so I could move in.
Obviously I wasn't going to stay. I left at the end of my lease and took pictures of any damage. The carpet and the blinds needed replacing. A month later, I got a bill for $2400. Even if I thought that was an okay amount for blinds and carpet, I still don't have $ Review from Google
Oct 2018: I have lived in Bishop Square since August, and I really don’t understand all of the bad reviews because my experience has been very pleasant so far. This is a very small community, and all of our issues have been promptly addressed and fixed by management and maintenance (typically, same day). The office staff is so kind and helpful. It’s nice to see the assistant property manager, LeeAnn, be so involved with the community. Shannon Blackford, the bookkeeper, is very responsive and helpful. The walls are thick and sturdy, so you don’t really hear your neighbors and the apartment space is extremely spacious. I definitely recommend living here if you enjoy a quiet little community. Upon moving out, they want to charge me over $500 in fees which are more like “repairs†that should’ve been done upon MY move in.
When I moved in the place was filthy- and this was because I had paid “extra†money to move in earlier.
My dryer never fully worked- had to go through 2 cycles to dry properly. A leak under the sink was never properly fixed and grew mold, kitchen light fixture fell off and was never fixed, light by porch never worked or fixed, A/C broke NUMEROUS times. They come “fix it†just for it to break again.
They’re charging me for “heavy clean all appliances†yet our appliances were literally RUSTED upon move in.
They actually replaced our microwave but dishwasher NEVER washed properly it was falling apart and disgusting. The only reason I rated this 1 star is because the management guys are cool & helpful and the only positive about this place.
The management is a JOKE. They’re all so full of it. They don’t know how to communicate with each other so no one is ever on the same page. They want to charge you for the air you breathe & everything and anything else they can get away with. It is a horribly managed complex.
Don’t even think to read the good reviews, because they pay you $10 visa to write a good review. I couldn’t wait to move out of this place and change my 5 start review (Thanks for my gift card Bishop!) to the lowest possible rating. Jun 2018: Don’t live here!!!! First off our front door was broken, they never came to fix it till about 8 months in. Our dyer was broken, they came into “fix it†but it still didn’t work, finally after about 3 tries they got us a new dryer, granted it took about 6 months within living there. Out toilet was always running water and they NEVER came to even look at that even with multiple maintenance requests, eventually we had to turn off the toilets water ourselves. The ice machine is broken and still broken. Maintenance once tried walking into my room while I was in bed?? Management walks into your apartment with no heads up or warning.
