Student housing is usually a reference to the way the apartment community operates.
- Individual Leases: Student housing usually offers individual leases, meaning you are only responsible for your lease, if your roommate does not pay rent, it does not affect you. Related, you are not responsible for damages in your roommates room.
- Roommate Matching: if you want to save money living in a 4 bedroom apartment, but do not have roommates already identifies, the apartment community will help match you. In many cases some rooms will go unfilled, which gives you more room.
- All-Inclusive Rent: In many cases all of your utilities can be included in rent. This usually includes cable and internet, and many times also includes water and electricity. Make sure that you check to see if there are caps. Caps are very common with electricity.
- Fully Furnished: Since student housing is focused on a population that will stay for just a few years, it is common that they take the hassle of buying furniture out. Sometimes the furniture is included in rent, other times you have the option for a small fee to have your apartment fully furnished.
While many student housing communities are not exclusively students, the above mentioned features are highly useful for students.
