Hi, Loading...

Apr 2019: I've been at Shoal Creek for 5 years. I am moving this summer. A lot can change in five years, however, my experience here has been for the most part consistent. I'll be kind in my review, but hope to give you an accurate picture of what it is like to live here. Let's start with the overall complex. The office staff is hands-off. Maintenance is very prompt and always fix/replace what you need. Greenspaces are plentiful, but there is a serious dog poop problem. Also, you won't really see any of your neighbors using these spaces. I've found folks here to be mostly aloof. The pool is nice in theory, though, the water wasn't clear and the area littered with cigarette butts and beer cans. Also, the lawn chairs they provide were never functional. Trash/recycling is included in your rent, but there aren't nearly enough dumpsters and they're overflowing. Pest control is also included in rent, and pests have never been an issue Review from Google
Jan 2019: Where do I begin? I lived here last year and all I will say is you get what you pay for. Roommate and I were not allowed to move in for three days after the lease began because they were still installing carpets and hardwoods. We finally got our keys, and walked in to our downstairs toilet complelety uninstalled and unfinished. Along with the apartment being completely filthy. We went right to the front office and demanded that it be cleaned. There were dead bugs in the sinks, cob webs, and food reminents and stains in the kitchen. The office staff can be very helpful but with that, can be your worst nightmare. Ill explain why. My roommate and I had two dogs. theyre the nicest rescue pups ever. well, we kept getting harrassment, like emails from the complex claiming that they were getting complaints from the neighborhood that our animals were chasing people focing them to "retreat" back into their homes Review from Google
Oct 2018: Our daughter was accepted at UGA and would be relocating from Plant City, Florida. 483 miles from home! After her acceptance, we spent weeks researching apartments and locations, calling friends and former students for recommendations, looking up crime statistics, etc. As parents, our major concern was safety! We came to Athens in March, 2016. We drove to the different places we had mapped out. Some locations we drove in, turned around, and left immediately. On our list was all three locations managed by Lewis Properties. We met Cathy and Ashton of Lewis Properties. Ashton took us to all of their locations. My daughter chose Shoal Creek. As soon as we walked in she said, 'This is it!' The location was phenomenal as it was only two miles from UGA. There are ample restaurants, grocery stores, a movie theatre, etc. within a mile. The apartment is lovely. 2 bedrooms/2.5 baths, hardwood floors in the living area, linoleum in the kitchen and bath areas, carpet up the stairs, landing and both bedrooms Review from Google
Aug 2018: Would not recommend renting through Lewis Properties. There are so many better options in Athens. I am not going to list all of the complaints/problems here but some of the other reviews have already touched on them so take a look. Review from Google

May 2018: I am a current tenant. My experience living here has been good for the past three years. Their maintenance is super fast. Usually once you filled out the request on the tenant portal they come in the same day or next day. Here at Shoal Creek we were lucky enough to get the unit that first floor was not carpeted... super easy to clean. Pest control does not come in the building unless you request it. Insects like spiders are not uncommon at the first floor because our unit is next to the wood but doesn't bother. And I am really happy that roaches rarely showed up probably once or twice a year so far. They ask you for a proof of professional carpet cleaning when you move out which I think is acceptable. (Also means I got a cleaned apartment when I moved in) They do increase the rent year by year but not as crazy as some apartments in Atlanta that I know of (If you secure the next year lease it's just a small amount added) Review from Google
