Jun 2017: Been loving it here for 2 years. Hands down best apartment complex in the San Marcos area for students. Staff is super awesome and when ever there is a problem they get it done in a timely manner. For example, my water heater broke and they got it fixed within 2 days even though they had to order a completely new one. Super impressed how fast they were able to get it done. It is super quiet here and if you are looking for a party complex you are going to be disappointed (I for sure am not). The pool is nice and always clean. It is also extremely safe away from all the riff raff that many complexes have closer to campus. Dakota Ranch also has the best bus route to campus with no train stops and takes roughly 5 minutes to arrive to campus. No trains or road work! Jun 2017: My fiancé and I were starting to dread finding a place to rent. Everywhere we went had high fees and boring amenities. We decided to stop by The Dakota Ranch Apartments on one of the days that they were having an amazing signing deal. We loved the many amenities and most importantly, the staff's welcoming and helpful attitudes and guidance. We adored the spacey two bedroom apartment. Oh and did I mention that they are reinivating the apartments? Not only did it look great when we saw the apartment before the reinivation, but now we will be moving in with a brand new and fresh look.

May 2017: Signing at Dakota has been one of the best decisions I've made since moving to San Marcos. I love that there are only 8 buildings in the entire complex, so I've never had to worry about too much noise or having to deal a million neighbors having parties every night. Everyone in the front office is great and they're always willing to answer any questions I have and help out. Maintenance always answers requests in a timely manner and are all extremely friendly.

It's a very chill housing complex that has the best nature feel to it. 24/7 gym with free weights that go up to 75 is nice too!

Mar 2017: Dakota ranch is amazing! Maintenance responds quickly, the staff is very very friendly! I always get my daily dose of free Starbucks coffee before class where I have a for sure spot on the bus because the bus fills up at the retreat.

Dec 2016: When I moved into Dakota I fell in love with the nature trails, the chill environment and the super polite staff. It was like a dream complex for me and I was so happy to move. But after about 6 months my experience began to change.
For starters I have put in maintenance requests to fix:
-the constant leak in my tub (which was fixed 5mo AFTER it was originally requested.
-the dishwasher does not work and is now loose and coming out of the wall.
-my bedroom door does not lock, and my closet doors decided to come unhinged and fall in the middle of the night.

Oct 2016: Great Maintenance and front office staff! I have put a few maintenance requests throughout my stay, including during after hours and they were quick to respond and fix the issue. The pool is beautiful and I was able to reserve and pay a small fee at the pool to host a party. I love living here.

Apr 2016: First of all, the amenities and activities to do in the club house as well as outside and surrounding the property are better than any other place I've lived at. Not to mention the staff is very kind and helpful. Also, the maintenance crew is awesome. They always fix whatever problems you have promptly and flawlessly.

Mar 2016: I have been living at Dakota since August and I originally loved it despite the high rent and broken aminities. However the complex is experiencing renovations and they are extremely inconvenient for the current residents. Workers begin at 8am during the week hammering outside of our windows and now we are being asked to move our furniture and find accommodations for our pets while contractors come in and move our possessions (which Dakota Ranch Will not be held responsible for if damaged). We were originally told that indoor renovations would take place after we move out.

Aug 2015: This apartment complex is disgusting. The outside is covered in wasp nests and spider webs. They did not power wash the outside of my apartment for the entire year I lived there. Who wants to walk up to spiders crawling all over the outside of their apartment. The inside gets worse. The carpets were suppose to be "new", but were stained. dirty, and infested with fleas.

And I used to love it when I lived in building 4 (bigger one bedroom floor plan) mostly because everything in my apartment worked without fail for almost 3 years. I moved into the smaller one bedroom floor plan in August and I don't know if it's just my apartment or what but everything works poorly. all. the. time. First I wanna say that the maintenance staff is really AWESOME.
