Jan 2017: don't ever rent any apartment in there from management, rent it from owner, You will see the different. The location of the apartment complex is A+, but the management is D-.
Jul 2016: Do not rent it from management office, rent it from private owners. There are lots of privately owner rent their apartments in there, easy and quick Reponses as well. Review from 7/6/16 on Apartment Ratings
Jun 2015: I moved into this apartment last Saturday and today I am totally mad at whats going on. Yes, probably i am going to meet the management on court soon. I signed the contract on 15th and paid $400 for May because people told me they would offer the apartment to someone else otherwise, fine, but when i checked the apartment then, it wasn't even prepared for moving in. Carpet was dirty, lights were broken, one stool was down, and the mailbox key was a wrong one. How would that even happen?? They came fixed a few things in the following week and i had to deal with others. Two weeks later, I still could not get the right key for the mailbox and when I was forced to move in finally (my previous contract ended), I collected a whole bag of long hair from the carpet in a single room! Mar 2015: At least two buildings in this complex are currently completely infested with cockroaches. Over the past few years the problem has been getting worse. From talking to other residents it seems like this is affecting the entire complex. By infestation, I mean seeing multiple roaches per day, having babies in our apartment, entire visible populations living in our water heater closet. We tried everything before I moved out. Chemicals, DIY solutions, natural solutions. The management was somewhat helpful in sending people to spray our apartment, but it does not work. It's not a matter of keeping the place clean. It has just gotten to the point where these roaches are living in the walls of these older buildings. Review from 3/23/2015 on Apartment Ratings
Feb 2014: I've lived in Ivy Commons apartments for three years and overall it's been a really good place to live. I started in a two bedroom with a roommate and when I got married, my husband and I moved into a one bedroom. They are older buildings, but have been well taken care of and maintenance is quick to respond to any issues that come up. The only reason we moved from our apartment there was because my husband got a job that took us somewhere else but if we moved back to Raleigh, we'd probably check back and see if they had any available. Sep 2011: This is a great place to live if you want to be close to school. It is also a great place to live if you are fond of cockroaches invading every inch of your apartment. Anonymous review from 9/20/2011 on Apartment Ratings
Jun 2011: Their office is not on the property but 12 miles away so phone/email is pretty much how you contact them. I am utterly disappointed at the staff's response to the maintenance issues. It seems like they just don't care. They don't properly respond to phone calls even if you leave voicemail. They don't seem to care even if you send email (we have sent 3-4 email over a period of one year for the same issue, it was never take care of). I am speaking of personal experience. Seems like once you're stuck with them after lease-signing, their job is done. I am even considering going to legal services. Worst apartment service ever. wouldn't recommend to anyone. The first day I moved in, my locked bike was stolen. Over last thanksgiving, out two delivered packages from the door were stolen. Anonymous review from 6/18/2011 on Apartment Ratings.

Apr 2011: First off, I want to say that while I am choosing not to recommend this place, it actually isn't that bad. If you're looking at Ivy Commons, I assume it is because you are 1. a student at NC State, and 2. looking for a good apartment for a low-ish price. It's in a good location, right across from Centennial Campus and close to main campus. I paid $650 a month for a 2 bed/2 bath, and it was really spacious. I thought I was getting a really good deal. HOWEVER... these apartments are so old and haven't been updated in such a long time that they are HORRIBLE when it comes to energy use. The door to the hallway has a pretty large gap all the way around the edges, and you can feel hot/cool air coming in and going out if you put your hand next to it. The same goes for the windows - they are old and let air in. Anonymous review from 4/26/2011 on Apartment Ratings
