Jun 2019: The Retreat at Brightside is an incredible establishment. The staff is definitely professional and helpful. I believe it is a wonderful place to live with a great community surrounding it. The manager, Zantavia has been working incredibly hard to make sure everything is together and that I would be impressed by her establishment. I gotta say that I loved living here for 4 years during vet school. I enjoyed the parties, activities, food (the administration takes time to make food for residents). Its close to lsu, theres a bus stop in front of the complex, 24 hours small fitness center, free coffee. Its also safe. I am going to miss this place really bad. I cannot say anything regarding rent since I have never did any research but Its honestly not too bad considering how close its to school which in undergrad you dont even need a car. Mar 2019: This is my 4th year living in baton rouge apartments, and Oakbrook has been by far the cleanest and safest apartments that I have stayed at. All the appliances are brand new and if there is a problem with utilities then someone will come fix it almost immediately unlike other places. Great place and it is cheap and affordable. The management changed after a few months and now I have to fight with the new management to convince them the former roommates kept it this way. Eventually I had to clean up the mess of a complaining roommate. I also pay 1/4 the water and utilities for 5 peolpe in a 4 bedroom apartment. I’ll start by saying ROACHES! I have had to beg them to spray the entire building. Roaches crawl up the walls and stairs outside. These are the large ones AND THE SMALL GERMAN ROACHES. I have never lived anywhere where I had a pest problem. The office denies they have infestations, but I’ve seen other residents complaining about the problem and getting roach baits. I was informed by pest control has an infestation.
Plumbing issues which were uncovered when the a/c broke. The sink drains slowly in kitchen and toilets backup and smell horrible when they are flushed. The a/c was broken and I had to show them a video of how I had to take a pole and turn it on from the unit in the ceiling before they decided to send someone to fix it properly.

The person we were dealing with actually rolled their eyes at me when I was just asking some basic questions. I have heard that they have a ton of maintenance issues and that it takes forever to get stuff fixed so I am not really sure why we thought about leasing there in the first place. Neighbors are extremely loud, especially during football season and nothing is done to address this. Not to mention a shooting. There’s a massive lack of security and lighting, it took someone being shot and killed to get a mediocre security guard on the premises. I have only been here 2 months and this is ridiculous. It's a shame that people work hard to provide themselves a place to live, but they could care less, you better have your rent on time, nothing else matters. I would stay away if I were you.
Apartment 246 Review from GoogleDec 2018: My lease cannot end soon enough!!! Parking alone is enough frustration. Getting home from work after dark with two small children & having nowhere to park is ridiculous! You would think with as much money I have to pay in rent that I’d at least enjoy coming home! Residents with multiple vehicles should not be allowed to hold all the decent spots hostage if not paying for a reserved space. I’ve been here for two months & the same white truck has been parked in a space that has never moved! I am scared to death coming home having to walk long distances in the dark (poor outside lighting near my building) with my children. When I talked to the manager, she said that's for the safety.. But that is not true .. If they want to enhance the safety in the property, they should have fixed the gate .. The gate has been broken since I moved (May 2017) .. Every time I asked them about the gate, they are still working on that! Hey... a gate is not a sophisticated system !
