Hi, Loading...

Jul 2019: I have been a resident of this community for a little over 6 months, and I love it here. I moved from Greenville and the cost of living there compared to Chapel Hill is vastly different. It took me a while to find something in my budget, however, I am definitely getting my money’s worth!! Great square footage and a balcony! The amenities are also great: - valet trash service - nice pool - newly renovated office/clubhouse (with an excellent gym!!!) - free cable and internet (through Spectrum) The latter two saved me having to pick up 2 extra bills. The staff - especially assistant manager Eugene and maintenance worker Saleem(?) - have been great to work with. Any needs I have are always solved in a timely fashion. The location of this complex is perfect for me, being approximately 10-15 minutes away from my job. It’s also just perfectly just minutes away from 40E/40W. AND...to be literally a walk across the parking lot from a movie theater, grocery store and restaurants is a big plus!! If I had anything to ‘complain’ about, it would be that the stairwells could use a good pressure washing, as spiderwebs do accumulate in some areas Review from Google
Sep 2018: I’ve been living at 86 North since the beginning of June. I love the staff here -Denise and Lauren are always happy to see me when I get a cup of coffee at the office (free Starbucks coffee available). The maintenance staff and others who work here are all very friendly and understanding. Any maintenance issues I’ve had (only one so far) were taken care of quickly. Also, if you have any anxiety issues, feel free to ask the office/maintenance if they wouldn’t mind calling before they come over - they don’t judge. Oh and they don’t pound on the door to announce their arrival at your door. They’ve always treated me kindly and so far my neighbors have been really nice too. They do include Internet and cable in the lease (if you want DVR then you do have to pay for it yourself but that’s not expensive so that’s fine). I feel prett Review from Google
Jul 2018: Denise in the leasing office is very rude and acts as if she is better than everyone else. I do not appreciate waiting in line while she talks to her friends on her cellphone. On the other hand, the stairway up to my apartment is filled with spider webs, wasp nests and bugs! The apartment has roaches. My washer has been broken since I moved in a year ago. Rent is too high for a place like this... Review from Google
May 2018: 86North has been great to us. Every time we go into the office, Denise is there with a smile on her face ready to answer any questions or concerns I may have. The maintenance staff are great with any requests that I have submitted through the portal. The turn around time is usually 24 hours and if they cant get to it within that time, they are wonderful with the communication. Love this place and you will too! Review from Google
Feb 2018: As a current resident i love my apartment, its very spacious, easy to clean and has eveything im looking for in an apartment. Unfortunately, after speaking with the new management (silverpoint residential, the fourth in my 2 year stay) for the first time, I felt such disappointment. They gave the impression of no improvments, only empty promises. Speaking of, I am still waiting on that clubhouse. I've been to the pool all but twice, only to find a closed sign do to maintaince problems. It was closed for one week in May of 2016 and another in July of 2017. I see trash every other day somewhere on the property. And, the reason for the loss of amother star, thin walls and ceilings. They will also provide you with a television and internet in your lease. You are responsible for any problems that occur it. YOU will make the phone call for repairs. Overall, I'm really s
Jan 2018: When we first moved in the air conditioner didn’t work. Took a month to get this fixed and after it was fixed we still had to get our own unit for the window in the bedroom because the ac was a pos. My daughter almost got attacked by a pit bull while playing on the playground because they put the dog park and playground beside each other, idiots! Not to mention they let pit bulls live there and I had to smell weed in my house all the time and office wouldn’t do anything about it. I worked night shift while living there and told them this when I moved in. I would reschedule maintenance updates that they would need to do for the days I wasn’t sleeping during the day but they would still barge in while I was sleeping to do them. They even came unannounced one day to remove my window ac unit because they thought it was theirs. So a main Review from Google
Jul 2017: A new resident, the application and move in experience was super easy. My 2 bed 2 bath is $1200, I understand it is up significantly from 850. The renovated apartments are decent but some of the AC and ventilation systems are outdated. Management was quick to responsed to repairs. Review from Google
Jun 2017: My family and I currently live at 86 north and are counting the days until we move out! We have experienced nothing but trouble since BEFORE we moved in!! From issues with our lease (prior to moving) to having to complain numerous times about our neighbors squeaky floor above us, due to POOR infrastructure (finally they were moved to a different apartment), to having our air conditioner stop working for the 20th time. A window unit was finally put in after my husband threatened to call corporate!! Even after having the window unit placed out apartment is still hot. We were told 2 weeks ago the A/C was going to be replaced. Not sure how long that takes, but we're still waiting! Review from 6/7/17 on Google

Mar 2017: I am unfortunately a current resident at 86 North apartments and cannot wait until the day I can move out. We have experienced a multitude of problems that have been a result of both poor infrarstructure and poor management. First and foremost, if you move here expect either a) your water heater to break or b) the water heater above you to break and damage everything in your apartment. In living here we have had the water heater above our apartment break twice in two months. Our friend in a different building had her water break, and in talking to maintenance over 19 water heaters have broken in the past 6 months of being open. Review from 3/28/17 on Google
Mar 2017: Thank you, 86 North for being a community of which I am proud. The staff has consistently been responsive -- a big deal to me and many others. Apartments are spacious, clean, and well-maintained. I'm always happy to bring friends or family to my home. The recent social get-together was a pleasant surprise and meeting new neighbors was especially nice. Accolades to management! Review from 3/12/17 on Google

Jun 2016: There have been numerous issues I've had with this property, but the one I'd like to point out now is that it's the dead of summer and in my short 2 months of living here, I've had 6 maintenance request tickets for my Air Conditioning. Every 2-3 weeks my AC stops cooling and they come and just add some Freon and move on. It's an ongoing problem and it's more than just adding some Freon. This is ridiculous- they're being so cheap that they keep putting a band aid on the actual problem and it's to my expense. Review from 6/28/16 on Apartment Ratings
Sep 2015: I would like to recommend Ben and Ashley as an overall great manager of your property and I am glad that I moved here to live. I highly recommend 86 North! Review from 9/4/15 on Apartment Ratings
Jul 2015: These use to be Timberlyne Apartments so it's an older established community that I heard about when I first moved to Chapel Hill in 1996 but I had already signed a lease elsewhere. I wish I had checked them out then, because the space is so much larger. I have a one bedroom that is very spacious and I have full size washer and dryers in the laundry room not the little stackables. The renovations really update the apartments, I love the hard woods and granite counter tops, the nickle light finishes give a contemporary look to things. When I lived in the city before I was paying over $1000 a month for a one bedroom that was 300 square feet less than the one I have now. Review from 7/21/15 on Apartment Ratings
Jul 2015: As a longtime resident of Timberlyne Village, now 86 North, it is amazing to see the improvements that have been made over the last year. It seems like there is new everything. I just want to thank the staff and the owners for helping to breath life back into my community. Review from 7/20/15 on Apartment Ratings
May 2014: I lived in a Timberlyne apartment during the last two years. I think it important for anyone planning to move here to know that the facility has some pluses but too many minuses. Once I became a tenant, I found that repairs were too often required and too often very slow in resolving. The facility had a shabby appearance from time to time but overall was reasonably quiet and comfortable. The apartment was comfortable and the heat worked bu the air conditioning failed many times and was not remedied - and this was during the very hot summer months.
