Aug 2018: I have been here for two years now almost 3 and have nothing but disappointment. The thing that gets me the most is they don’t even tell you when maintenance is coming up they just randomly come and you don’t know what time or day they are coming. I would really appreciate some kind of notice so that way they don’t just barge in during the day and open my apt and think they can do whatever. I would strongly recommend a email or phone call and say hey they will be here on this day and time make sure your home. Review from Google

She called the cops on me for no reason and harassed me to the point where I was so stressed I had to move out. I informed them of everything going on but I still have to pay rent which is fine. The one part that bothers me is that I have to continue to pay for electricity and water when I’m no longer there. I shouldn’t have to pay for someone’s usage when she basically drove me to the point of moving out. Review from GoogleOct 2017: Parents beware, they entice your kids with no deposit and then when it comes to move out they charge you for every place on the walls where something was hung (even when patched) and for burnt out light bulbs. Would have written into lease that they will provide touch up paint or you will be paying for the entire apartment to be repainted. Also the company they use to do their utility billing,bills you in advance for the final month based on past use and will not adjust once final bill is in. Its really quiet, my neighbors are really cool, management is really nice and helpful, and the apartment itself is beautiful including its amenities. Ive had a couple issues with my AC breaking, but within 24 hours maintenance came and fixed it. My bathroom sink and bathtub have had issues with the drains being clogged, within 24 hours of me putting in a maintenance request everything has been fixed. I love how fast maintenance comes and fixes any problem and they're also really nice too. The management will treat you with as little respect as they could possibly muster. They treat you as a child, which while freshmen can be a bit lost sometimes , it is not acceptable to dismiss everyone living there as naive.
In addition is out to squeeze as much money out of the tenants as possible. They have a large 500$ non refundable pet deposit. This is further demonstrated through a series of hidden fees in the payment system which you have to pay to use, despite having no real other alternative. And should you happen to live in your apartment and scuff the floors or walls they will charge you exorbitant fees when you move out unless you fight them on it tooth and nail.

Aug 2017: My daughter is a resident there, love the facilities dislike the incompetent management team. Since she moved in, every single interaction she has had with management has been negative. After she wrote a bad review, re after she wrote a bad review, she received a one time email from the owner apologizing for the many bad experiences she had. I emailed the manager myself, figuring that a parent would be able to make something happen... I was completely ignored. The latest and probably the worst thing they've done, happened on July 31 (move out date). Around 10 pm a man, who later was identified by management as part of their task force, attempted to basically break in her apartment to "check" if she had moved out! 1. At 10 pm, are you serious? 2. She renewed her lease in January. 3. Again... at 10 freaking pm!

Mar 2017: This apartment complex is nice, but I would not recommend living here. The rent is high, but yet the property manager doesn't use the money we pay to fix anything here. The gates are ALWAYS open and since we live in a nice apartment complex, we are targeted for break ins. I have had my car broken into twice and I haven't even lived here for a full year. Also, we always have creepy people in our complex walking around and driving through the apartment at night so when I take my dogs for a walk I feel really uncomfortable.
Review from 3/21/17 on GoogleFeb 2017: When my fiance and I first toured Uptown, we were blown away by the amenities. They have a beautiful pool and their units were nice as well. We didn't encounter problems with them until after we signed. Multiple times before we moved in, we were not sent the information we were supposed to receive. On the day we moved in, our locks were broken, and the whole door frame needed replacing. We were told not to write it down on our inspection sheet because they would come that day to fix it. Their solution was putting in some dry wall in the locks! They didn't even replace the striking plate. Totally insecure.

I'm guessing the bad reviews are from people who will be unhappy anywhere they live. Staff is awesome...always planning activities. It's a healthy vibe here. I just renewed my lease and hope negative people stay away.
Review from 2/13/17 on GoogleDec 2016: Uptown is a wonderful place with a wonderful staff. First Class, very up to date rooms, very spacious. They do things the right way. Sand Volleyball, grills by an awesome pool and weight room. This should be your ideal place to leave if you are in San Marcos.
Review from 12/28/16 on GoogleOct 2016: This is the worst experience f**** ever! The price is extremely over priced not to mention the staff management is absolutely horrible. They logged my package in 3 days later and so many times, I called the USPS for answers and found out soon what happened. The guest spots are always taken up always, even by people that have there car there weeks on weeks. I saw a dude change a car battery in the guest parking lot ,like come on! The pool and amenities may be nice but I couldn't even care less at this point it ain't even worth it. On top of that they didn't tell us our apartment has some serious issues, including previous pest problem! The maintenance has never been kept up from the last past apartment dwellers and the staff didn't even correct it before I moved in. All they did was change the carpets, nothing else.

This place IS NOT SAFE. On many occasions my daughter has come home to her apartment to find that the maintenance team has been in her dwelling and left her apartment UNLOCKED.
Management routinely blows off student residents and are only responsive when parents get involved. Evidently, cleaning the pool takes priority over a backed up toilet. We had a clogged toilet for 3 days!!
A secondary but challenging issue, is the developers did not plan enough parking space to accommodate the residents, much less guests.
Review from 9/3/16 on GoogleJun 2016: During my undergraduate years here at Texas State, Uptown is hands down the best apartment complex that I have stayed at. The pool is amazing, the staff is friendly, and the maintenance crew handles issues in a timely manner. I do know parking can be a hassle and the guest parking is very limited, but that is everywhere in San Marcos. You do also get a great deal with cable+Internet included with rent and is the bare minimum 15 mbps plan, but I have no issues with my Internet speeds. Just call Time Warner/Spectrum if you want to upgrade to get faster speeds, just know you will pay a bit extra. Overall, I recommend Uptown Square to anyone.

The fitness facilities are great though. To get to the gym or pool you'll need to navigate a minefield of dog poop, but both facilities are well maintained and make living here a bit more bearable.

One thing that I was very disappointed in was that they promised a dog park, but failed to communicate the declining of it to the residents. The pool gets trashed due to the resident parties, which is very irritating. When you pay a certain amount, you have an expectation that goes with it. I will say the office staff are wonderful. They truly care about the conversations being made and I truly believe they make the difference in the property.

If you get out of work past 10 pm good luck finding a spot. You literally have to drive around the entire complex to find a spot, park and wait for someone to leave. Being a girl it is not fun to park across the entire complex in the middle of the night and walk a distance to your room.

Guests aren't allowed to park anywhere. New Amenities were broken and never fixed despite maintenance. The reason it's a 12 month lease is so people can't leave.

Amazing gym, pool, volleyball court and newly finished pavilion area with four grills. The rooms are spacious and the furniture is brand new. Very close to everything in San Marcos and easy access to I35. One of the best places I have ever lived.
