Oct 2019: Other then occasional alcohol and marijuana users, I personally rate this place 5 stars out of 5. I have come across diverse and open minded people. Sometimes I can smell the neighbor cooking fancy dinner(which I like and even got offered to accompany one of them one day), but some are shy. It is cheap and affordable. Utilities are bundled with rent(water, electricity and an air conditioning unit). There are little kids in the area to get a more true feel for the adults’ nature here. There are affordable ($1 or less) meals within walking distance. My room smelled like old dust or just finished on walls when I first moved in, but after airing out for some days and nights I have gained my home scent back. There is not a bunch of space in the efficiency rooms or a kitchen(the cheapest room), but they are still the cheapest apartments near campus and obtain a bathroom. Sep 2019: The floors stink , there are mice and roaches and they just seem to not care about the building at all they need to shut down and renovate the whole building! The water is shut off every month because they’re too cheap to do a permanent fix , the elevators barely work so i suggest you be in shape to take the stairs they honestly just need new owners or something or need to tear the building down you can hear rodents running through the ceilings they’re are bats flying around and it’s just not a good place to live i would suggest anywhere but here i can’t wait until my lease is up Review from Google
Sep 2019: I was leary about moving here because of the other reviews. However, I've lived here for about 8 months now and I've had a good experience. There's been a few small issues here and there but the price is great and the new office staff is very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place for sure.
Aug 2019: Do not use this apartment. Because service employee are very unkind and not responsible. This is very objective opinion around all of resident in here. The apartment is very dark and old. There are so many bugs live in here. My sister lived in this apartment when she study at the Kent state University. After she graduate and move out, she did not get back guaranty money for 4months. When she call them several time, they always tell her they send the money, but she do not get the guaranty money for a long time. They just tell her they send the money again and again. Find another apartment if you do not want to regret.
Respond to owner : whether you apologize me or not, your service is extremely terrible. Get back my sister's guarantee money, you did not send the money since May. Now is September, you know? And why you just yelling to my sister when she call you and why you guys do not change your manager when my sister request? Your employee and apartment manager yelling to many customer, you know!? Jul 2019: I’ve only just moved in, but the service of the move in was smooth and easy. I came from another place which was really expensive just for a 2 bedroom so I thought why not try here? Jake, one of the service attendants was great when resolving the question of when I was moving in. (Ex place charges by the hour on move out day) he made sure my apartment was ready and called
Me before he scheduled to. They were really understanding of my emotional support animal, and I like the apartment so far! I’m pretty sure this is new carpeting also, nothing smells weird! Office staff is not friendly at all, neither is maintenance. There was an occasion where a janitor had yelled at me for using the public bathroom, because he was mopping. Because the toilet my apartment was unavailable, he said it wasn't his problem. We had work orders put in for dishwasher slash disposal and was not fixed for months. My roommate and I waited last minute to look for an apartment which is our fault and we got stuck here at college towers. The second day we moved in we had bed bugs and a few weeks after that we had roaches everywhere and a exterminator came in 3 times to spray our apartment. When we had roaches really bad I was always getting sick. The hot water barely works and when it’s cold outside the heat barley works. I called and ask them to fix our heat because it was freezing in our apartment and they told us that the heat doesn’t work well when it’s cold and told me to just wear more layers of clothes...... We also experienced a severe leak in our living room because the people above us had some sort of flood in there kitchen and they still haven’t came and checked it out, it’s been 2 months. I viewed the apartment prior to it being cleaned & they assured me that it would be completed before move in. They barely cleaned anything, I found shattered glass all around my sliding glass door from the previous tenant, ants crawling out from around my bathroom sink (which I had to seal off with caulk myself), & bees that were coming in through my ceiling. When I informed the property manager of the bees she informed me that it was "bee season". When the health department did their walkthrough I made sure to let them know about the bees & her response to the situation, which got me an EXTREMELY dirty look from the property manager. Ground floors have very bad smell of marijuana looks like its center of it . Lift is not working condition. Cleaning lift is not updated. some floors have very bad smell of pet and they never improve the quality. Recently they have decreased price of room but they don't care about old customer. Jul 2018: It's been several years since I left College Towers, and I am still ill. Bedbugs, bats, roaches in the hallways, fleas, mites, flaking lead paint, and more. I never had asthma or respiratory issues prior to being a resident at CT. Something should be done to stop their unethical practices. Where is the health department? Can Kent State get involved? I don't want to tell you all the bad things that happened to me while living in CT, so please just take my word... if you value your health and well-being at all, DO NOT LIVE HERE. I am now battling chronic lung issues and have had an ongoing cough ever since. Many of the reviews make me feel like I had a VERY nice room. Our appliances seemed to be in working condition all year. The biggest annoyance by far was the water shut offs. I had nothing but emails saying there would be water shut offs. Then they would also have the water off at random times too without notice and trust me that's very aggravating. The bug situation IN OUR APARTMENT seemed to be great. We did not see any bugs or roaches or mice or anything. But again, judging by the other reviews we must have gotten very lucky on that. The hallways are very dark and sketchy seeming.. also the smell is very strong in them. I got used to it throughout the year but my guests did not at all. The balcony was sketchy to say the least as well.
Review from 8/26/17 on GoogleJul 2017: Spent two years there. I guess I had a floor that wasn't so bad. I didn't have any of the roach problems like others have said.
However, this apartment had many issues.
For starters, it's always hotter than hell. Its hot in the winter, hot in the summer, doesn't matter.
Another was the elevator was always breaking down.
Another was the random water shutoffs at very inconvenient times.
However, the maintenance staff was very kind and responsive to any problems I had. The sink got clogged sometime near the end of my lease, and they were prompt. I'd say the maintenance team were the best people there.

I wish I could give them a zero star. Everything and I mean everything about this place is not good. The stupid manager only sit in her office without doing nothing about tenants problems about the building. I know hate is too strong a word to describe the place but I hate this everything about the apartment cos the only benefit is sleeping in Ma bed. I wish I knew much about Kent before moving to the apartment. I'm only 3 months in Kent but I know better now. $695 for nasty services.

It's close to campus, and they give you a nice tour. don't be fooled! The only nice thing is that it's close to campus, and they have a pool. The front office has extremely rude people that don't care about any issue happening. The place smells so bad. It smells like straight garbage. The apartment my girlfriend had was riddled with issues. First the ceiling was leaking.... they fixed it by spray painting over it... yeah... because that makes since... and it started leaking again. Then the ceiling above the shower leaked and I'm sure I don't have to say what they did to fix that.. the garbage disposal was broke from day 1. We Saw roaches crawling down from cracks in the walls. I am a cancer survivor and specifically asked about bugs and health concerns. Basically I had a cockroach infestation from day one. I became ill from bug fumes. The doctor at the school told me the place has horrible reputation for roaches and bed bugs, which multiple floors had both. I saw giant ones run across my door. The school lawyer says they are known to trick students. She deals with them on a daily basis and they are trying to shut the place down. I was homeless and had to sleep in my school studio for a week. Thank god for the wonderful doctors, lawyers, and people at the school who helped me get out of the lease with my money back and get into a safe location.
