Hi, Loading...

Jan 2019: Worst place I've lived, so glad I'm finally free from this terrible complex. Cheap as can be and you still don't get what you pay for. Office staff, mostly Corey, are some of the rudest people I've met. I actually had Corey, the office staff, tear up a compliant, about not having hot water for days, right in front of me and say he would call the police on me for being in the office. The water gets turned off with minimal, if any, notice due to underground water leaks. The office isn't even open some weekend days without notice. The complex is adjacent to a park where homeless people camp out and actually do drugs by the baseball field at night, sometimes in broad daylight. Laundry room was down frequently and randomly with no notice except for a piece of paper on the door. They tried to charge monthly for a mail room that was barely ev Review from Google
Jan 2019: I’ve been living here for almost 6 months and I still don’t have a mail key, when I brought it to their attention no one had a solution. I was simply told to ‘be patient’. My patience has exceeded its limit. I’m currently sitting by my front door waiting for maintence. I’ve been waiting for almost 2 hrs for maintence to help me back into my apartment. If maintence doesn’t show up then I’ll have to sleep outside. I’ve been trying to contact emergency services for about 2 hrs and nothing. Thank you for such an inconvenience Review from Google
Dec 2018: I've seen a lot of poor reviews but there's always another side. I moved in a couple of months ago and yes, there were opportunities as will be with any older apartment. I had no issues with the office staff or Maintanence. Staff were professional and courteous. Everything that was brought to their attention was handled and if the same issue arose, they took it way above what any other complex I've rented from. It's a large complex but I truly believe The Standard goes above and beyond to make their residence happy. It's simple...just communicate. Review from Google
Jun 2018: It is cheap rent but you don’t have control over your thermostat and the laundry facilities are very cheesy. Your apartment is cooled to around 80 degrees. In the spring or fall it is freezing because you can either turn the chiller on or off. You don’t have a thermostat. If you are someone that wants heat for the cool mornings in early winter you have to wait until they switch the system over to heat. The laundry room is not heated or cooled. In the peak of the summer the laundry room is a oven. Often the window have to be left open so you don’t just pass out from the heat. Sometimes homeless people use or hang out in the laundry room. Their solution is to shut the windows and lock the door. Image how hot that laundry room gets without ventilation or cooling in August. There are almost always several washers or dryers that are out of Review from Google
Jun 2018: Office staff is super friendly, love the convenience of being across the street of the pool. Happy with all the changes they’re making. Can’t give them a full five because it takes multiple calls to get a hold of the office and along with all the construction comes our water randomly being shut off which is hard with kids. I really want to give them 4.5 stars since I know the water isn’t completely their fault. Review from Google
Jun 2018: I first lived here 20+ years ago while in college. This property has been thoroughly upgraded and has very nice amenities. Close to everything in Tempe, but has easy access to the 202 and 143. The best thing about this complex is the staff. The office workers are polite, informed and helpful. Maintenance issues are addressed quickly and professionally. I happily recommend this complex. Well done folks, very well done. Review from Google
Jun 2018: My partner and I have lived here for two years and are about to resign our lease for a third year. We originally signed a lease in 2016 as The Standard offered one of the most competitive rates in Tempe for two bedroom apartments. The Standard had undergone construction recently and it was well worth the wait! The remodeled pool comes fully equipped with great patio furniture and grills that we love to utilize during the weekends when hosting friends. We also enjoy the gym, package room, and laundry facilities. The apartment itself is perfect for what we need it for and whenever we have issues, the maintenance guy Jessie does a stellar job in getting it fixed well and on time! We have never had any issues contacting the front office and the staff does their best to answer our questions as quickly as possible. The Standard is competitively pric Review from Google
May 2018: The manager was super friendly and cool. When I walked in she was dealing with a very rude customer and I have to say she handle it very professionally. I was impressed by the customer service I received throughout my visit. Unfortunately I would have taken the apartment had they allowed my dog. Review from Google

May 2018: I have lived here since October and really had a great experience overall! I’m not sure why the other reviews aren’t favorable because this place has one of the nicest front office staff I’ve ever had in a complex. When my dad came to visit he was impressed I got into a luxury apartment! My apartment has had no issues is clean, exactly as described and very sanitary. I also have neighbor friends who enjoy their residence as well so I know that most people who live here do like it a lot :) and anything that needed to be fixed was done in a timely manner. I feel that I pay a fair amount especially considering that it’s walking distance to mill ave! Everyone in the complex keeps to themselves and if there ever Is a noise issue Virginia and the staff are so professional about handling it quickly. I feel comfortable living here and also ma Review from Google
May 2018: My daughter lives here and she absolutely hates it. This complex has a new major issue almost every week. For example, this week the water has been turned off for 2 days straight. Last week there was a major gas leak. The laundry units were down for almost a month directly before that. Review from Google
May 2018: Writing this for a friend. Everything that's said here is true. Whole place looks ugly, cabinets and "renovations" are shoddy. Staff is cheap and will try to invent ways for you to pay them more. If you are thinking of picking The Standard because you would rather sacrifice quality for price, I think living in a van would be a better deal. Review from Google
Apr 2018: The management at this place SUCKS! They were bought by another company and replaced everyone in the office with incompetent morons. They don't communicate well with the tenants and try to nickle and dime you for basic things like the ability to receive packages. don't waste your time with this place because you will regret it at some point. Review from Google
Mar 2018: If I could give this hell hole zero stars, I would. It might quite honestly be the worst place to live in Tempe. It's WAY overpriced for what it is, the management absolutely sucks, and they routinely find ways to inconvenience you as much as humanly possible because that's how they maintain such a "high standard of living." Take, for instance, the latest edict. They apparently are doing an extra special treatment for roaches (which is the only bug I haven't seen in my apartment). Giving eight days notice, they inform us that for an entire day, we must fulfill a long list of requirements, which includes removing EVERYTHING from cabinets, draws, closets, counter tops, food preparation areas, sinks, the top of appliances, and more. Further, your pets are not allowed to be on the premises, not for just the treatment but for FOUR HOURS AFTERWARD, Review from Google
Mar 2018: hate it, don't move not exaggerating. They are so pathetic, made rent go up and sent me a letter and they kindly included a five dollar fee for sending the letter. NO hospitality just gobbling away at our every dollar Review from Google
Mar 2018: I would almost definitely leave zero stars if I could. Where should I start? Their laundry room is beyond terrible, the dryers hardly ever dry or work for that matter, the “bark park” that they offer is some left over space that they put a fence around and said go ahead there is your pathetic excuse for a dog park, maintenance is the most incompetent group of individuals I have ever seen. Not only do they not even fix what I reported needed to be fixed but they recklessly ride around on their golf carts almost crashing into my car many times. The renovations are so bad I’m pretty sure that one could sue for false advertisement as all my cabinets and drawers have dried up paint that was dripping, so professional. I have had my dishwaser leak 3 times because they were too stupid to put in a high loop, which is almost common practice when Review from Google
Dec 2017: Constant issues with water pipes. Water is shut off at least once a month, and you don't always get a notice because it's "an emergency". Sometimes they only shut off the hot water. I've had to take cold showers on numerous occasions and you would think they'd offer a discount on water, but no. You're still expected to pay the bill in full. Honestly, if this is your only option, get a 3 or 6 month lease. Only good thing about this place is the location. not worth the trouble. If you have any questions, email me. I'd be happy to forward all the water issues/emergency maintenance emails I've received in the past few months. Review from Google
Dec 2017: The horrible reviews you read about this place are unfortunately true. We moved to Tempe due to an urgent situation, and needed to find a place quickly. I now know why they're open 7 days a week and had vacancies. While I'm grateful we could get into a place quickly, it's a miserable stay. The only folks with no complaints about anything in their apartments..must not live in the "Tempe Standard Apartments." don't let the advertisement fool you into this place. Its not a good place to live. The water does go off without warning and it could be anytime day or night. The cooling system does truly suck, when they don't shut it off early and make the apt hotter, since they get to decide when the a/c or heat should be on. The noise level of the area is beyond their control (this ain't country livin), I can't fault them for that. However, since moving Review from Google
Nov 2017: the location is nice being so close to campus but the apt is just okay. The washer and dryer units suck and I’ve never called the front office and had them answer. It’s best to walk over to the office if you have a problem because they never answer and they never return your call. The apartment itself is just Okay. Review from Google
Nov 2017: Honestly they’re really fixing up the place and the office workers are really great. Cory and Virginia are really nice and funny and they always answer all of my questions. Review from Google
Oct 2017: Renters beware!!!! Bed bug central!!!! Rude receptionist Corey will physically push you out of the office if you have a complaint. Maintenance will not correct issues or "bandaid" them. AC rarely works! Pipes busted and filled my apartment with other people's flushed remains!!! Renovations that were promised were never fulfilled. good luck to anyone who considers this place! Review from Google
Oct 2017: Since new management took over, the customer service experience has greatly improved. Friendly and attentive office staff. Professional maintenance team. They've added many amenities. I love living here! Review from Google
Jun 2017: This is the worst place you can live at thank Goodness I moved out horrible horrible I highly do not recommend them at all. New management sucks, do not do nothing about your complaints. Before I moved out I had specifically asked about my move out information and what needed to be done I was told I needed to get the carpet clean as one of the things I did that waisted $200 on getting it cleaned and now they bill you regardless if you get it clean. If you are looking for a place to live I recommend going somewhere else they are just plain horrible! Review from 6/8/17 on Google
Jun 2017: I wish I could give this place negative stars. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy to be stuck living here. The most disgusting, depressed complex ever! I had to move in on a very quick and sudden emergency situation. The worst year I have ever had in my life. The people who manage this should be ashamed to even work there! don't ever live here!!!!! Review from 6/4/17 on Google
Jun 2017: I'm moving out next week and I am h y p e d. The only reason to give it any stars at all is because it is cheap, probably the cheapest complex this close to downtown Tempe. With a price tag like this, you're going to expect a couple bugs, it just comes with it. This extent to this infestation is ridiculous, it's like I am a house guest to these f'ing roaches. I am nervous to move anything that has sat for more than five minutes because I just know that three of them will come crawling out. We had an exterminator come through and in a week they had returned. Review from 6/2/17 on Google
May 2017: The people who work in the office love scoffing and rolling their eyes at you just about as much as they love sarcasm. A clogged drain took a week to get looked at, and the pool is often used until 1am. Our kitchen was not cleaned when we got here. I moved the oven to get behind it and the floor was black with filth. The counter had cracks and holes in the laminate when we got here. Quality of the service: 1/5 Quality of living: 1/5 Review from 5/23/17 on Google
